Sherry Bradley and Kim-Kathie Knudsen of Hershey M.S. Palmyra Area H.S. While walking along the street on Saturday you and your two friends look down and see a black wallet lying in the gutter. After opening the wallet you see that it belongs to the famous Spanish actor Antonio Banderas! A phone call to Antonio reveals that he is ecstatic that you found his wallet and is offering you and your friends a huge reward. The reward is based on one condition!
Antonio Banderas has given you and your friends a trip to Spain to be taken two months from today. As a group, you will be given $20,000, and you must stay a minimum of 6 days, excluding travel days. During your trip you will visit 3 cities and stay in each one for 2 nights. Given this information what will you do and how will you do it in beautiful Spain? Your journey will begin in either one of the two largest cities in Spain: Madrid or Barcelona. From there, you will be visiting other cities, including Sevilla, Salamanca, Granada, Toledo, Valencia, Santiago, and Cordóba . After completing daily travel logs of your journey, you will send them, along with a complete group generated trip itinerary, to Antonio Banderas (aka Sr. Reeves) as a thank-you for his generosity.
Once your group's cities are selected, it's time for you to get to work. Refer to your role for your individual process.
You will begin your journey in either Barcelona or Madrid. From there, you will be visiting other cities, including Cordóba, Granada, Leon, Malága, Salamanca, Santiago, Toledo, and Valencia.
Your group will be evaluated in two ways on the WebQuest; 1. Each person will individually write a daily Travel Journal. The journal will contain a daily record of the trip from the perspective of each group members role (in past tense Spanish). Each person will also include how much was spent each day, and a reflection on how the trip is going so far. (See specific roles for details on individual travel journals). Go to the sample Travel Journal now! 2. As a group you will create an Itinerary. The itinerary will include an outline of the trip including members travel allowances, transportation details, hotels, activities, restaurants visited, souvenirs bought and any extraneous expenses. There should also be a daily total of money spent. All group members will contribute equally to the itinerary. Go to the sample Itinerary now! **You will hand the project in as a group with a title page and a properly documented (APA) list of the resources that you used.
How many different things were you able to do during your week in Spain? During your journey, you have hopefully seen famous museums, attended Spanish sporting events, dined in fine restaurants, and experienced the joys of the metro. You have also learned to budget money, exchange currency, and plan an itinerary. With your newly acquired experience, you are certainly ready for a real trip to Spain! ¡Viva España!
