The Physics of Roller Coasters

Task 1:

Your reading goal is to learn more about the new technology and how it will impact the construction of roller coasters.

Your task is to design a roller coaster.  The computer will mark your roller coaster and you will get instant feedback on the safety level and fun level of the coaster you create.

bulletOn a separate piece of paper, draw a copy of the roller coaster you created.  At each point in the coaster, write down how the computer scored your coaster and the feedback from the site.  After you have done this, answer the following question:  What did you learn about roller coaster construction from completing this activity?

 

Marking Criteria:

Both entries for this station will be graded on the following criteria:

   a.    Completes the task assigned
    b.    Relates a thoughtful reaction revealing understanding and 
   
         making connections
    c.    Is personal, expressing views, opinions, ideas and/or 
                emotions
    d.    Views and opinions are supported by examples and 
                explanations
    e.    Insight is shown by describing the interesting or unusual.
